Notes: Empress Valley criticize labels who use their Led Zeppelin soundboards and make improvements on them. However they were guilty of the same act regarding the Rolling Stones 1981 Tattoo You soundboards. Many shows were initially released by Dog N Cat only to be copied. Fuckin’ Wonderful is a straight copy of the first two discs of Executive Action (Dog N Cat DAC-022) with identical sound. DAC presented the two Dallas shows on four discs but EV focuses upon the Halloween performance, which is the better of the two. The sound quality is excellent on this and it is a good alternative to the DAC.

Both of the Dallas shows were afternoon affairs beginning at twelve noon. With this being their first trip to “the big D” (in Mick’s words) since 1975 and occurring over the Halloween weekend with audience members in costume, the band were determined to have fun. It must have been a bizarre sight to see audience members dressed in Halloween costumes and Mick praises them several times throughout the show. “We’re gonna spend the night trick-or-treating in the lobby of the hotel, so if anybody who wants to come is welcome. You know which hotel it is anyway. What’s the matter Keith? You lost your guitar” he says before “Let’s Spend The Night Together” and trying to explain the delay. It’s at this point where the rains begin and continue throughout the afternoon. “We play rain or shine so get your umbrellas out” Mick laughs.<-(Info taken from collectorsmusicreviews.com).

Notes: Superb Crystal Cat Sound! ::::: On the eve of his 14th wedding anniversary to his red-headed woman Patti Scialfa, Bruce Springsteen treated the crowd at the Milan Forum to some romance. Whether it was intended as a long distance dedication or not, Springsteen offered up a trilogy of songs for separated lovers: "Tougher Than the Rest" on piano, followed by the wildly received "Open All Night" on electric guitar, and rounded out by "All I'm Thinkin' About," that beautifully high-pitched ditty played for just the third time this tour. Yes, Bruce has talked about having to hide his love songs within his early work, but hearing these three back-to-back-to-back made you wonder if he was about to make "an all night run to get back to where (his) baby lives." And "Open All Night" (last played at the St Rose of Lima show in late 1996) wasn't the only tour premiere for the rowdy Milanese--"Lost in the Flood" made its tour-proper debut, while both "Brilliant Disguise" and "Lucky Town" stayed in the set from the night before. Notes: This is not a compilation of previously available Headley Grange rehearsals. It's a new 5 cd set that surfaced a few years ago. Before that there had already been the Tape 17 rehearsals that had appeared as In The Beginning volumes 7 and 8. (These included the previously available rehearsals that had appeared on The Lamb Descends on Waterbury, and on In The Beginning volume 6.) On top of that there are some studio outtakes on ITB volumes 1-3. Someone asked what these are. They are tapes from the writing sessions for the album, that took place at Headley Grange. Phil Collins usually turns up first, which is why some days start with a drum solo. At other times the early birds jam on cover versions. I think the person singing on Heart of Stone maybe a roadie.<-(Review by doublebassy).
