*** United Kingdom Tour 1972–1973 ***

Personnel: Jimmy Page :: John Paul Jones :: Robert Plant :: John Bonham.

Notes: Another excellent soundboard. Can't get enough of Led Zeppelin's 1973 tour! January 7, 1973 in Oxford and was released by Wendy Records. What a mix of songs - Led Zeppelin 4 and Houses of the Holy when both were new and fresh on the radio.

Robert's voice is still incredibly weak from the flu, but the band is definitely on, with Jones and Bonham shining through in this bass and drum heavy soundboard. Jimmy is incredible too, especially in Dazed And Confused, where he indulges in some exotic and strange sounding soloing in the fast section that sounds quite breathtaking amongst the bashing of the rhythm section. The instrumental machine is playing exceptionally which makes up for Robert's sickness. Whole Lotta Love was dedicated to road crew: "Any of our road managers that didn't get arrested in Sheffield. This really is a bit heathen for a Sunday night."..<-(Info taken from argenteumastrum.com).

*** 1971 U.S. tour ***

Personnel: David Gilmour :: Rick Wright :: Nick Mason :: Roger Waters.

Notes: Pink Floyd’s final live appearances in 1971 was a long US tour. Beginning on the west coast in the middle of October, it came to the east coast at the beginning of November and would end in Cincinnati on November 20th. The New York date was at Hunter College in New York on November 5th (the others in the metropolitan area were in Passaic, New Jersey and at SUNY Stony Brook). Several days after the release of their new album Meddle, there are two tape sources are in circulation for this date.

Godfather utilizes the first of the two tapes. It contains the complete show with tune ups, no noise reduction or dehissing and runs at the correct speed. It is a bit distant and thin sounding with slight distortion at the beginning of the show, but clears up as the show progresses to be a really nice sounding document. There is a small cut after “Atom Heart Mother” and one 12:32 in “Careful With That Axe, Eugene.”.<-(Info taken from original info file).

*** First Japan Tour in 1974 ***

Personnel: Eric Clapton Guitar, Vocals :: Jamie Oldaker Drums :: Dick Sims Keyboards :: Carl Radle Bass :: George Terry Guitar :: Yvonne Elliman Backing Vocals :: Marcy Levy Backing Vocals.

Notes: This bootleg was released from Tricone label last November and got this copy from my friend. This show was released from many labels with each sources and are as follows.
1. vinyl bootleg: God Is Back (Live In Japan) :: 2. Legend Comes Alive (SBD Keep Out KO0001/2) :: 3. Lovely People (Tarantura TCDEC 23-1,2 / 24-1,2) :: 4. Light Up Your Face (Tricone, this one)
It seems some more sources circulating in Japanese fan but I don't have them. Of course, most clear sound recording from this show is "Legend Comes Alive" but "Blues Power (encore)" isn't included. Original "God Is Back" must be best audience source IMO, however, "Get Ready" is faded out and audio pitch (speed) is very fast for fitting all the tracks into 2 vinyl LP records. "Lovely People" is very disappointed from its price, far from stage and too much equalized with higher frequency range. "Light Up Your Face" is recorded far from stage as well but sound is very natural, only a least equalization must be done for its original tape. I have seeded my remastered "God Is Back" here and still think its the best source of this show but from historical reference I wanted to seed this source here as well. Hope you all will enjoy this show. mrs_mnt

*** 1978 Japan Tour ***

Personnel: Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar :: Ronnie James Dio - Vocals (RIP) :: Bob Daisley - Bass :: David Stone - Keyboards :: Cozy Powell - Drums (RIP).

Notes: Continuing their current run of recordings featuring the Japanese tours of Japan, this time we are treated to a fantastic recording and show from Hiroshima in 1978. First thing that hits you, aside from the excellent quality of the recording is the aggressive performance. From the time the band breaks into Kill The King it sound more like kill the audience, it is that powerful. Well balanced all instruments have great clarity with Dio’s vocals nicely up front, aside from members of the audience who shout at times wildly for their hero, one Ritchie Blackmore. The audience does not detract from the recording or become overbearing but more like part of the enjoyment as they are clearly enjoying themselves. After the initial onslaught of Kill The King and Mistreated, the band settle the intro the 16th Century Greensleeves a group of people cheer loudly for Ritchie and chat during the quiet section and then are deafened as he slams into the main riff of the song.
The recording is up there with the previous release “Short But Hard and Heavy” as one of the better recordings from the tour. With other labels releasing titles featuring RJD, the nice packaging and recordings combined with very tastefully mastering make this series of Rainbow titles a nice part of my collection and are highly recommended

Notes: The soundboard nature of the source sounds doubtful in places, but the recording quality appears to improve somewhat starting with 'Lost For Words,' which restored my faith. The source is not without its flaws (unstable separation, dropouts, etc.), but these are relatively minor; overall this is a great recording of an unusually lengthy rehearsal/soundcheck, with Dave taking occasional considerable liberties with lyrics. From the earliest recordings made in 1967 to the sixteenth session in 2002 Bowie has contributed some fascinating live sets to the BBC archives. The early recordings of Bowie at the BBC particularly hold great interest and document an artist still trying to find his way in the world with apparent giant leaps in style although if you really study them it’s more of a rapid evolution. Most of the unofficial recordings have variable sound quality and generally attribute the wrong dates to the various sets Bowie performed up to the early 70s. Pick and mix bootlegs confuse matters still further as do the often repetitive set lists. The official Bowie at the BBC release is by far the best available but is far from complete so this is where this new release from Godfather steps in as in contains many of the important tracks missing from the original release and all in excellent quality

This blog is merely an index with public links for audio recordings of independent origin (ROIO) which have not been officially released. No audio or video content is hosted here. We only provide meta information files for the ROIOs. If you're an artist (or a legal representative of an artist or its estate) and you don't want your ROIOs shared on this blog for FREE among your fans, you may opt out any time by sending e-mail to the site admin. We will then put you in our list of not allowed artists. This will halt all sharing of your ROIOs in this blog within minutes. BTW, the ROIOs exist, you can't make them vanish. So, why not let your fans get them for free from one another instead of having to purchase them from commercial bootleggers on auction sites?
