*** Get a Grip Tour ***

Personnel: Steven Tyler - Lead Vocals, Harmonica, Percussion :: Joe Perry - Guitar, Backing Vocals :: Brad Whitford - Guitar :: Tom Hamilton - Bass :: Joey Kramer - Drums, Percussion .

Notes: Excellent stereo from a FM Radio broadcast. This infamous Aerosmith concert called the end to their 18 month GAG tour. It saw the band going back to their roots playing mainly 1970s material with only a couple of tracks from their recent Geffen days. Rare live performance of "Rattlesnake Shake", "Walk On Water" and "I'm Not Talkin'" The recording is incomplete as missing "Walk This Way" and "Cryin'" (which were before "Mama Kin").
:: review by: Jay Power ::
First rate FM recording from the last show of the Get A Grip Tour. This show differs from most other 80's, 90's, and 00's Aeroboots, as it was recorded at Mama Kin Music Hall, which is a small club in Boston. Playing in a small club results in a different sound than playing in large arenas as the band usually does. It's great to hear the band perform in a small club. The boys stuck mainly to their 70's material, which was great to hear. As far as the performance of the band, they put on a great show. Tyler's vocal was excellent, and the rest of the band was excellent as well. This is a top quality bootleg any way you look at it.
:: review by: Wesley ::
After hearing so many bootlegs, as I did, there are always a few that you'll remember. This is definitely one of them! Really excellent, the soundquality couldn't be great enough to capture this show. During the long and heavy Get a Grip Tour Steven's voice was often raw, but lucky us not on this one! ... Must have live versions of Walk on Water and Stop Messin' Around (which has completely other lyrics), e.g. "Merry Christmas Baby, you're shakin' my balls off my tree." Steven's asking the audience what song they want to hear, suggesting titles that do not exist. Then he asks if there's a fat lady in the audience, because the show ain't over 'till . There isn't one, so Steven jokes: "Joe, my friend, did you bring your wig, ahah!" Toys in the Attic is played and the stunning show is over... Fortunately, there are bootlegs that ain't over after 'Toys.' Some bootlegs have Cryin' and Mother Popcorn/Walk this Way in addition, which are from the same concert, but are cut out off most recording due to the time available on one CD

Notes: This title that Godfather released is flat out Amazing. I own 7 different labels of this show and without a second thought after Jimmy hit that first cord; This is…”The Example of Supreme.” All the current labels should grab a copy of this and frame it, hang it on their walls, and while gazing at it, realize this is Mastering at it’s Finest! -bostonbro-

Review:
When Empress Valley released the soundboard for this show it was a revelation of sorts. Not only was it previously uncirculated but it sounds as if it’s a professionaly mixed multi-track recording. The general consesus among collectors was that this recording was the best of the best and could not get any better. UNTIL NOW!!! Godfather has pulled off a miracle. This new release has taken what was already a three layer cake and added the richest icing possible. Godfather has improved the seemingly unimprovable. They did what was said couldn’t be done. They have taken the best sounding soundboard out there and turned it into the best sounding soundboard ever… Sure Flying Circus is great but this recording blows it away. Godfather used a professional recording studio to work their magic on this release. This release may definitely take the place of the official Live Led Zeppelin releases in my collection. This release has a beefier sound to it which overall makes this a slamming recording. There’s absolutely no hiss present and this is as clean as it gets. This release will help to set Godfather’s Legacy in stone. -Collectors Music Reviews-.

Notes: Notes from the Re-Master : Obviously, this remaster project begins with the torrented flac files from Dan Lampinski's show. It is interesting that this recording captures part of the explanation for the delay from Gabriel which is not present on the Joe Maloney tape. Both tapers then started their recordings of the show at approximately the same time, halfway through the Rael Introduction. Maloney's tape starts about two seconds earlier that Lampinski's so those two seconds were added to Lampinski's recording to make it more complete. The tape flips mentioned above occurred with uncanny synchronicity between the two tapers, leading to the initial (incorrect) assumption that the two were the same recording. Tape flips were repaired here so that the full, complete show is available.

The first significant step in the remastering was the speed correction. PRRP has remastered other Lampinski recordings and, despite their outstanding quality, they often run too slow or too fast. Here again, this recording was off speed and that was easily corrected. Tonality was re-balanced given the acoustic characteristics of the venue and the location of the taper. Clicks and pops were found and repaired easily. A number of points find undesirable noises coming from the synthesizer on stage. Gabriel references these at least once during the monologue but they can be heard intermittently during 'Lilywhite Lilith', 'The Waiting Room' and 'The Supernatural Anaesthetist'. These were not altered because they were not tape flaws. Dynamic adjustments were made to enhance the recording and repair the effects of auto-record circuitry. Re-tracking was done using standard references, splitting the show just before the second Rael story, but without fadeout for a seamless listening experience. -PRRP Staff-

Notes: - Sources: July 24, 1971; Yale Bowl, New Haven, Conn. June 5, 1971; Sportpalast, Berlin. Quality: Sup (Ex) What a wonderful surprise! From out of nowhere comes this soundboard recording of the Yes Album lineup live in 1971. The bonus tracks (attributed on the sleeve to Berlin '71) aren't quite up to the same standard as the New Haven material, but are nevertheless also soundboard. This one comes _highly_ recommended.- -The Hedonist- ····· - This version of 'America' is somewhere between that on the "Looking Around" CD and the "Yesterdays" version we all know and love, in that the arrangement is old (old intro, 'toss me a cigarette' verse, no bass solo, etc.), but Steve Howe is unmistakably the guitarist here. -Tom-.

*** A Day at the Races Tour ***

Notes: This show in Glasgow is considered to be one of the legendary Queen concerts. Glasgow audiences are famous for forcing bands to rise to the occasion and deliver stellar performances and Queen don’t disappoint with a tight, energetic and charismatic performance. The tape used was first pressed on silver many years ago on A Day At The Apollo (Gypsy Eye GE 145/146). The sound is a bit distant but very clear and enjoyable. Gypsy Eye used a tape that had intentional cuts in “Keep Yourself Alive” and cut out during “Jailhouse Rock” eliminating “God Save The Queen.” Wardour use the same tape but also a second generation copy sounding a bit more dull to fill in the twenty second gap in “Keep Yourself Alive” from 1:06 to 1:26 and cuts in again 1:28 into “Jailhouse Rock” offering the final four minutes of and “God Save The Queen.” The edits are competent (except for the when the lower generation cuts back in “Keep Yourself Alive” which is very abrupt). The virtue is that Wardour offer, for the first time on silver, the complete show.<-(Info taken from original nfo file).

Notes: Sound-board. This was the first of 2 successive nights at "The Warehouse" and 5th show over-all of the 2nd leg of the 1971 U.S tour. PT refers to the venue as "...when we first toured the States, this is the kind of places we played in and uh, it's the first electric factory, Kinetic Circus type pisshole we've played for a good long time....don't be over-awed by my big boots or Roger's swinging microphone or his patched trousers, he's only an ordinary punk from the gutter". Magic Bus fades in with RD's harmonica playing and fades out early towards the end. Once again, very nice packaging from the folks at "Hiwatt". The cover is a laminate with a picture cardboard inner sleeve. The sound quality in my opinion is a bit "trebly" and dull sounding in the begining half of the disc but consists of a decent performance. Baba O'Riley, Bargain,Behind Blue Eyes, Won't Get Fooled Again Baby Don't Do It(sic Baby Don't You Do It), Magic Bus, Overture, Amazing Journey, Sparks, Pinball Wizard, See Me, Feel Me, My Generation. -Rockin Rons-.

Notes: A phenominal audience recording for the period; from the second night of the famous "Rainbow" shows, rumoured to have been recorded by a mate of Woody Woodmansey. This was recently sent to me on CDR by Bofinken who asked if I could clean it up a bit and torrent it. To be perfectly honest it was so good I had very little to do. I cleaned off a tiny bit of hiss, removed a few crackles and pops then balanced the volume between tracks and channels. There is a cut in "Width of a Circle", the discs had the missing section badly replaced by a section from the officially released "Ziggy Stardust - The Motion Picture", this I obviously removed.

In my opinion this is as good if not better than the famous Maloney Boston recording and must rank as one of the best Ziggy audience recordings. Part of this show has been booted as "Rainbow Theatre" and complete as "Rainbow - The Magic Theatre", It is certainly an upgrade on both of these. The recording was also remasterd and torrented a few years back as "Up yours Reg" by Downunder2 (Steve), I haven't heard this but I'd be suprised if this is any worse. -Jack-

It also features a few additional things of interest; such as side one of Walk Among Us as it was planned for Plan 9 release, before Slash picked it up, a few tracks in terrible sound quality from the show at HFCC which were recorded on the same day as the "Why Be Something You're Not" TV appearance, as well as the old "Live 79! The Perfect Crime" live 7-inch
.<-(Info taken from original nfo file)

:: Offending tracks removed :: Please note that tracks 18-21 are omitted since they appear in the Misfits Box Set on disc 3 as tracks 22-25 .

Total Time: 01:17:17 hour/s.

*** Jimi Hendrix - Record Plant Jams Vol 2 ***

Personnel: Jimi Hendrix :: Mitch Mitchell :: Buddy Miles :: Bill Cox.
Guest Musicians:
John McLaughlin (Tracks 1 & 7) :: Juma Sultan (Tracks 5 & 6) .

Notes: Record Plant jams, and some damn good ones, too! In fact, it's subtitled "Record Plant Jams Vol.2" (although Strato Strut was recorded at Electric Lady).

1. Drivin South/Everything's Gonna Be Alright: The jam with John McLaughlin (you can barely hear him) -- as in any jam, parts are absolutely ferocious, and other parts bog down with uninspired noodling, but the sound quality is great. Sounds almost as if it was recorded outdoors!

2. Drone Blues: Despite the track listing, this is actually a tryout version of Night Bird Flying, without vocals. Sound quality is good here, too, and there are some smokin' guitar solos.

3. Easy Blues: A more complete version of the track that was on Nine to the Universe. Larry Lee plays on this one (as well as Jimi of course) -- a cool, loping blues.

4. Strato Strut: Not Strato Strut at all, but Drone Blues, I believe. An uptempo instrumental.

5. I'm A Man: (instrumental) Part of a jam with Buddy Miles (no bass player at all), in which parts sound like Calling All Devil's Children.

6. I'm A Man (with vocals): An early tryout/jam of Stepping Stone.

7. Instrumental Jam: Listed as "Embryonic version of Tomorrow Never Knows", this is a long meandering jam -- there are two guitars here but I'm not sure who the second guitarist might be. <-(Info taken from original nfo file).

*** Heaven & Hell Tour ***

Personnel: Ronnie James Dio :: Tony Iommi :: Geezer Butler :: Vinny Appice .

Notes: Liberated vinyl bootleg record, 2nd gen from vinyl, ex- to ex aud - This is a copy of the bootleg record "Death Riders/Their Satanic Majesties Return". It's a famous great-sounding bootleg record with a mysterious history that I know little about. The complete recording DOES exist but the taper is sitting on it and refuses to release the entire show. As always, if you have a better-sounding version of this concert, especially a direct copy from virgin vinyl, by all means PLEASE UPLOAD IT!!! God bless you Ronald James Padavona and rest in peace. It's hard to believe that you've been gone almost three months now... -jojogunne-.

The Providence Civic Center bootleg is an audience recording, in binaural stereo. It is often confused with the Hartford Civic Center bootleg from August 10, 1980, which was an FM Broadcast. Both are excellent quality (if they were made from an early-generation tape). But The 'Death Riders' cover art and 'LSD' label make that edition of "Satanic Majesties Return" a collector's item for sure. -redaV_htraD-.

This blog is merely an index with public links for audio recordings of independent origin (ROIO) which have not been officially released. No audio or video content is hosted here. We only provide meta information files for the ROIOs. If you're an artist (or a legal representative of an artist or its estate) and you don't want your ROIOs shared on this blog for FREE among your fans, you may opt out any time by sending e-mail to the site admin. We will then put you in our list of not allowed artists. This will halt all sharing of your ROIOs in this blog within minutes. BTW, the ROIOs exist, you can't make them vanish. So, why not let your fans get them for free from one another instead of having to purchase them from commercial bootleggers on auction sites?
