Notes: In October 2002 a famous German rock group Scorpions had a tour around 14 cities of Russia. According to its organizers it was the first time when a group with a worldwide fame like Scorpions had such a long tour in Russia, covering almost all regions: from Vladivostok to Rostov. The group presented the show “The Best of Scorpions”. It was a big event and the tickets were sold out long before the concert. :::: Here are some impressions of a reviewer who came to see Scorpions: “Before the concert I felt really excited. Scorpions started their career in the 70th when I was a child and for me it was especially interesting to see how they’ve changed and whether the time had affected their music. But just as the concert started the whole atmosphere changed into something I had never seen before. You know the feeling when the concert really hits you and all you want to do is to scream, shout, and dance! Something really strange was happening around. People were singing along, hundreds of lighters were “floating” and it all looked like an ocean in the storm. I couldn’t call myself a huge fan of rock music but when I was listening to Scorpions I could barely breathe. Most people who were there could afford expensive tickets but couldn’t afford to relax. It took them at least half an hour to let it go and start screaming and singing along too. With the first sounds of “Wind of change” the audience exploded. Everyone, literally every single person was singing! Notes: Jimi's sublime LA Forum 1970 show has been making the rounds in record stores on this boot cd released last month. Obviously someone ripped of a fan's painstaking work to merge the "far" and "near" source, pressed it up on some silvers, made some nice artwork based on the original "Enjoy Jimi Hendrix" Coca-Cola motiff bootleg and is charging $25 a pop. No money to Jimi's family or a legit record label, just pure profit, pure ripoff. So here it is for free, to be shared and enjoyed, as Jimi would have wanted. Nice merge here, this is not a soundboard but Jimi's guitar almost sounds like it was patched in at times, it's that clear. His vocals less so, and Billy's bass and Mitch's drums even less!!! What to say about this show, it's spectacular!!! The band is well rehearsed for the fist show of the tour, and what balls to start in LA, but they come through. The "far" source is exactly that, but sounds less so in the merge. The near source is lifted from the Rubber Dubber bootleg of the show...somehow the two compliment each other. Hats off to the original fan who merged these!.<-(from original info file).

Notes: The production on this bootleg is also a wonder to have behelded, with beautiful stereo separation of the guitars, perfect drum and bass volume and a cheering crowd that is only audible between songs and during those Hot singalongs that Brian so loves to lead. But let me tell you something else that you'll find to be a real gas if you've been listening to AC/DC nonstop for the past 17 years like some of us have (I'm looking at YOU, me!): whether you know drums from Adam or you think that Eve fucked a drum to make Cain, Simon Wright DOES play these songs differently than Phil Rudd dud. I don't know what he's doing - maybe using too much cymbal? Whatever it is, he sounds like he thinks he's drumming for the Ramones! Check out "Sin City" or "Shoot To Thrill," for good examples. Love this, love that -- REALLY love the fact that three of my favorite Fly On The Wall tracks are on here, two with stronger vocals than on the studio versions! These songs, for your ledger, are the title track, "Sink The Pink" and "Shake Your Foundations. <-(Info taken from Mark Prindle's Record Reviews :: markprindle.com) --- AC/DC's Austin show in 1985 was actually on October 12th, a Saturday. On Friday October 11th they were playing in Dallas at Reunion Arena. I know because I was at the show (I rechecked my ticket stub to confirm the date). This was an unusual show in that the band closed with "T.N.T." because the cannons were declared to be a fire hazard by the marshals at Reunion Arena, and so FTATR did not close the show, for one of the few times since 1981.<-(Info taken from markprindle.com :: user halhorn).

Notes: Obviously there were two different sources for this PRRP remaster project. The first is a master sourced recording from the trader known as Freezer who recorded Kansas in New Orleans March 26th, 1976. The FLAC version of this recording was torrented on a share site and obtained for the project. As with most of Freezer’s recordings the quality was outstanding but a number of problems needed to be fixed. First was the speed which was found to be too fast. Clipping was present and also needed repair. Gentle noise reduction was applied so that the subtle and quiet sections could be better appreciated. Channel and tone imbalances were also found and corrected. As always, clicks, pops and other tape imperfections were identified and repaired. Dynamics were adjusted to enhance the recording and then the missing section was patched using an alternative recording as a source. Finally, the show was tracked to be consistent with the Lampinski recording. :::: The second recording is from Dan Lampinski, a master recently torrented, capturing the performance in Providence on April 13th, 1976. Like the Freezer New Orleans recording, this is also outstanding but did have some obvious flaws. The most obvious problem with this recording was the tape speed. A significant speed correction was applied using standard studio and commercial live recordings as references. Once that was achieved, the dynamics were adjusted and channel imbalances were corrected. No tone adjustment of noise reduction was necessary. Notes: Both of these shows were taped by the same individual sitting in the a similar location. Because of these factors he produced some of the best sounding tapes from the era. They don’t have the “flatness” inherent to outdoor recordings but are very punch and lively. Queen’s Magic tour was designed as a big spectacle in the biggest arenas around Europe. The setlist and performance was aimed towards that. Wardour pitch corrected both shows so that they run at the correct speed. The label is great at producing the exhaustive editions for Queen shows by offering both audio and video discs in one package. Notes: In any event, the quality of the sound is outstanding with clear signal up to 17,000Hz. The most obvious problem with the show was the tonality. The sub-bass components were very excessive. Additional adjustments to the bass section were also needed to balance the tone. Small adjustments in the mid-range and treble sections were made to enhance detail. Hiss was also a problem and its reduction allowed more subtle sections of the music to be better appreciated. Audience noise was a big problem. Applause was excessively loud and whistlers seemed to congregate around the taper. Permanent hearing loss could be the result of listening to the raw version of this show through headphones due to the volume of these whistles. Lots of time was taken to reduce the whistles and other audience noises. Cuts in the recording did occur but were only found during applause sections. Mix-pasting fixed this minor flaw and allowed a continuous listening experience. Finally, the discs were re-balanced to roughly equalize the amount of music on each disc. <-(Info taken from prrp-music.org) .

Notes: This is the most unusual bootleg I've ever seen. It claims to be a "promo" album for a band called Cygnus, covering bands of the '70s.The songs all listed on the back are indeed Rush songs, although they claim to be by such great bands as Zebra, Exhibit A, and Hadrian. This was probably to get around the U.S. copyrights, as this is the only boot I've ever seen released by a company in the U.S. Do NOT be fooled by the packaging, this is a Rush bootleg! The show is from a Tucson soundboard recording, although this CD sounds several generations away from the master. Overall the sound is excellent; each instrument stands out, but sounds almost like the recording level was set too high. A neat "bonus" is Geddy telling the crowd to "get back or the stage will collapse, and it would be a real bummer". The song selection on this CD is great! The fade from By-Tor to Xanadu is amazing, and it does contain most of both books of Cygnus. I say most, because somewhere in "Hemispheres" it fades out, then in again at a later part in the song.? My guess is the tape ran out at this point. Since this is supposed to be a band called "Cygnus", the packaging reflects that. It tells a little about the band, who's in it (apparently they have four members), and various copyright jargon. It has nothing to do with Rush except the song listing on the back cover -- which is correct, amazingly enough. Overall, an excellent addition to a collection. Finding the CD itself might be a little difficult, it was originally offered for sale across the alt.music.rush newsgroup.? I don't know if this will be available through the "normal" channels, or is limited to the person who originally offered it. However, you can also find this show on tape (perhaps even with better sound quality) from various traders. Notes: The Jeff Beck Group, was a rock/blues band from England in the late 1960s. Jeff Beck had recently quit the Yardbirds. And like the Yardbirds, this band didn't have many songwriters in it. But with Jeff Beck on guitar, and Rod Stewart on vocals, you couldn't confuse this band with any other band. No matter what tunes they covered.
